Some know him best as King Triton from Disney's The Little Mermaid, others know him as Grandpa Longneck from The Land Before Time series. Others still may recognize him from his work in Darkwing Duck as the villain Tuskernini, or Thumbellina's King Colbert. Perhaps you recognize him from his live action performances but no matter where you know him from, it is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of a fine actor, Kenneth Mars. He passed away from cancer on February 12 at the age of 74. Feel free to drop a note and say goodbye, or share some of your favourite Kenneth Mars moments with us here at Dreaming of Utopia.

So sad when I heard this news. Kenneth Mars had such a wonderful voice, and he was a huge part of my childhood. Rest in peace.

Oh no. I practically wore out my Land Before Time videos as a kid, and he was brilliant in Little Mermaid. Rest in peace.

*salutes sadly* Me too, Maxim....and King Triton always had such a powerful voice, this man gave it the presence it needed and made the character come to life.
RIP.

Oooh nooo, The Little Mermaid is one of my favourite movies. That's such a shame that he's no longer with us in this particular world. My heart goes out to his loved ones, and I'm sure his legacy will stay with us forever.

Oh no. King Triton was always one of my favorite Disney dads, and Grandpa Longneck was my hero when I was really little, to say nothing of the fact that Thumbelina was one of the most watched videos we owned. Kenneth Mars, you will be missed. *plays Amazing Grace on the piano*
