~~~About My Character~~~
What is your character's history? Are they a hero, or a villain, a sidekick or guardian? What has happened to them in their lives to make them the way they are today?
Eugene Fitzherbert was born the son of a poor woman and a Lord. Unfortunately for him, his mother died in childbirth and his father did not want to claim him, as he was conceived out of wedlock, and no high-ranking Lord wants to admit to having an illegitimate son. So, he was raised in an orphanage until he was eight years old, when he ran away from home. Throughout his childhood, Eugene all but worshiped the hero of his favorite book, Flynnigan Rider. Once he was away from the orphanage, Eugene began going by the name of Flynn Rider.
Now away from the influence of his mother figure, Mrs. Miller the owner of the orphanage where he grew up, Flynn turned to crime to earn himself enough money to buy an island. That way he would go away where no one would ever judge him for who his parents were again. During his time as a thief, he met the Stabbington brothers, who became his partners in crime. It was a rocky relationship, to say the least, but they were successful in the work they did together. That is, until they tried to steal the crown of Corona's Lost Princess.
The crown of the Lost Princess was the biggest job that any thief could think to pull. After all, it was surrounded by guards of all sorts, and then there was the huge city to get out of. Not an easy thing to do, but Flynn was confident they could do it. And they did…until they got into the forest. There, with some help from his natural cunning, Flynn managed to escape the brothers with the crown, until he found a tall tower, hidden away in a secret valley. He was confused by this, but went in to hide. Then it hit him. With a frying pan.
When he woke up, Flynn found himself the victim of a young girl with seventy feet of golden hair. She all but made him take her to see the floating lanterns the king and queen sent into the air each year for their lost daughter, and Flynn had no choice if he wanted the crown back. He agreed, and to his surprise, along the way to the city, Flynn found himself becoming fascinated by this pint-sized blonde girl. When they reached the city, he realized how lovely Rapunzel really was, and found himself falling in love with her. This surprised him, of course, and when he saw the Stabbington brothers on the shore, he decided to be noble—a new thing for him—and give them the crown so Rapunzel would be safe. That backfired like you would not believe, and when Flynn woke up, he was being arrested.
He couldn't believe it…Rapunzel was in trouble. She had to be. But then he was being taken to his execution. Fearing for Rapunzel's life as well as his own, Flynn spotted the brothers and forced them to tell him how they had found out about Rapunzel. When they told him they found out from an old lady, Flynn knew he had to save Rapunzel from her evil mother. With the help of the Snuggly Duckling thugs and Maximus the horse, Flynn escaped and made his way to Rapunzel's tower. Fearing that the worst had happened, he began climbing up the tower until her hair came down to meet him. Relieved, he jumped into the tower, talking about how he had thought he'd never see Rapunzel again. Then he was being stabbed by Gothel.
All Flynn knew was that he had to keep Rapunzel safe. All Gothel wanted her for was her hair…if he did something to fix that, then at least Rapunzel could escape, even if he couldn't. When Rapunzel tried to heal him, Flynn cut off her hair, fully expecting to die. What he didn't expect was to be healed by her tear. Who knew? Now, Eugene is Rapunzel's husband-to-be, and living with her at the castle with her parents.
Describe your character's personality. What are their strengths and weaknesses, what are their passions? What qualities do they have that are good or bad?
Eugene is a kind person, though he tried to hide this for years by acting like the charming, yet somewhat stuck-up and selfish, Flynn Rider. Now that he is no longer Flynn Rider, Eugene is free to be the person he once was, caring and brave, and madly in love with Rapunzel. He's still a little awkward about the whole being-in-love thing, as he's never been through it before, but he's more than willing to see how things turn out. Flynn Rider still exists in aspects of his personality, like his tendency to joke and make sarcastic comments rather than be serious, or in the way he tries his best to be charming towards his future in-laws. He still has a love-hate relationship with Pascal and Max the horse, but as Eugene they seem to trust him a lot more than they trusted him as Flynn, and Eugene's satisfied with that much.
(From my soon-to-be-published story What Once Was Mine. Please excuse the language)
Flynn Rider had fully intended to never go back to that stupid tower again. He'd finally gotten out of there, after all, and the last thing he wanted was to go back there. And yet, he found himself still hiding out in the area near the hidden entrance to the secret valley. Why? Because of that damn horse, that was why.
He really didn't understand it, but for some reason, this horse just wouldn't let up. It was like being tracked by a bloodhound who was cursed with all the stubbornness of a mule. And it was annoying as hell, if he was perfectly honest. All he'd been doing was walking along, minding his own business, hoping to get to a town where he could sell the crown before sundown, when suddenly there was the horse looming over him. Well, it had taken both of them a moment to realize what had happened, but once that realization set in, Flynn was off like a shot, running back the way he had come. Dodging rocks and vaulting over a few fallen trees, Flynn made his way back towards the vine-covered tunnel that led to the strange tower. A part of his mind was able to realize that the last thing he wanted was for the soldiers to find this tower, so Flynn veered slightly to the right, taking him just past the vines and towards a large group of boulders. The horse was still pounding after him, but Flynn didn't really notice this as he began clambering up the rocks.
Apparently the horse couldn't follow Flynn up here, because when the thief looked over his shoulder to check on his pursuer, the horse was glowering at the rocks in a very sulky manner. Could horses even sulk, Flynn wondered. He'd seen dogs sulk, sure, but not horses. Grinning triumphantly to himself, Flynn sat down heavily on one of the many rocks and gasped for breath, waving nonchalantly at the horse. This only served to infuriate the animal, who whinnied and snorted angrily, pawing viciously at the rock face in front of it, as though that would bring Flynn down.
Flynn snorted as well, though more in derision than anger. "Not likely," he muttered to no one in particular, his hand instinctively moving to ensure that the satchel was still dangling from his shoulder. It was, and he heaved a sigh of relief. Now…it looked like he was just going to have to wait until the horse got bored of staring up at him. Though, judging from the fact that the horse was even still in the forest searching for Flynn, that didn't look like it was going to happen anytime soon.
As if in answer to this thought, his stomach gave a loud growl. He hadn't eaten since the night before, he realized with a frown. Groaning in frustration at this thought, Flynn ran a hand through his hair and glared down at the horse. Stupid animal. Now he was going to starve to death. A slight exaggeration, perhaps, but not a large one, and it was already starting to shoot Flynn's patience and temper all to hell. Crossing his arms like a petulant child, he settled down to stare at the horse for what looked like it would be a very long time.
~~~Bonding~~~
Why this character? What draws you to them, what makes you want to play them? Do you have anything in common with them?
Why Flynn Rider? That's like asking me why I love Beauty and the Beast! This character just drew me in from the first moment I saw him onscreen. He's witty, funny, gorgeous, and in love. I already love writing loveable rogues, and Flynn is just one of those types of characters that I adore!
What would you like your custom title to be? This can be anything you like in reference to your character and will appear under your name.
